JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President - EPMO will oversee an enterprise wide portfolio of programs and projects; direct project managers and coach project managers and business analysts; maintain project management and business analysis standards, processes, and key performance indicators; ensure the resolution of issues impeding project success; assist in demand and capacity planning, build visualization and communication of resource constraints, coordinate project portfolio reporting; facilitate strategic project planning; design and implement project management training programs; and strive for continuous improvement of project management and business analysis practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the direct management of Project Management managers including staffing, performance management, career development & growth, training, and employee relations.
  • Responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the EPMO department to best achieve departmental and company goals.  Develop and maintain a metrics-based performance culture to drive success across the organization
  • Responsible for resourcing and project staffing; assessing hiring needs, interviews, and hires to align with the needs of the departments
  • Support the development and implementation of Project Management and Business Analysis Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, policies, procedures and ensure personnel are trained appropriately.
  • Train Project Management and Business Analysis staff regarding applicable SOPs, policies and all project management tasks required for project initiation, maintenance, and closure.
  • Oversee project management and coordination of all IMG product and service implementations across the organization. Work with the Project Managers to routinely evaluate and escalate project risks and mitigation strategies, project timelines, project activities against scopes of work, and assist with identifying changes in project scope or efficiencies to maintain timelines. Collaborate with corresponding departmental management in resource allocation planning.
  • Keep leadership informed of changes related to new and ongoing projects within the organization; resolve and/or escalate project issues and resource constraints in a timely fashion to enable informed decision making.
  • Serve as a leader, point of mentorship, and point of escalation for the EPMO team.
  • Serve as a champion of continuous process improvement within the department; bring efficiencies and best practices to the organization through the design and implementation of new or updated tools, procedures, or workflows
Strategic:
  • Coordinate and lead EPMO’s participation in the Annual Planning and Forecasting processes; meet with department heads, sponsors, business and development leads; determine process to aggregate demand and determine organizational and IT capacity
  • Execute the strategy for the Portfolio Management framework; areas of focus will include Resource Capacity Planning, Portfolio Alignment and Tools.
  • Lead Prioritization and Project meetings, interfacing with the IMG Leadership team, Project Managers, Functional Managers, and IT leadership
  • Assist in the capture and accurate reporting of Capitalizable IT hours for the organization
  • Key vendor contact/administrator and evangelist for specified portfolio tools

 

QUALIFICATIONS 
 

  • 10 – 15 years of work experience in project, portfolio, and team management.
  • Thorough knowledge and demonstrated experience with all SDLC methodologies and best practices (agile, iterative, and waterfall)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related fields PMP or similar
  • CSM or similar
